ADELAIDE L. LA VERDI age 85 of Leicester, NY, died peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, June 5, 2022 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY. She was born the daughter of Josiah and Ruth Salome (Yotter) Luteyn on February 15, 1937 in East Aurora, NY and married Leo LaVerdi on June 15, 1957. Adelaide began her education in a rural one-room schoolhouse, was salutatorian of her Webster High School graduating class, and attended SUNY College at Geneseo from which she received a BS in Education in 1958 and a Masters Degree in Library Science in 1964. She was employed for 33 years as a librarian at SUNY Geneseo, retiring in 1992 as Milne Library's Head of Cataloging, and was a member of CSEA. Adelaide enjoyed square dancing with her husband Leo at their winter home in Arizona, traveling, reading the Cozy Murder Mystery series, watching PBS, and hearing about the antics of her grand-puppies Baron, Brutus, Hank, and Otter.

She is survived by her 2 daughters Barbara (Bryan Donnelly) LaVerdi of Rochester and Susan (Arthur) Ayers of Leicester. Daughter-in-law Brenda LaVerdi of Leicester. 3 grandchildren Richard (Rebecca) Donnelly of Jacksonville, FL, Michael (Tu) Donnelly of Paramus, NJ and Audrey (Michael) Nigrelli of Orchard Park. Many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends including Boris and Eleanor Gaidasz of Warsaw. She was predeceased by her husband Leo Sr. in 2005 and son Leo Jr. in 2010.

Friends may call Saturday, June 25 from 11- 1pm at the JOHN W. MARTIN FUNERAL HOME, 37 Chapel Street, (Route 408), Mount Morris where Funeral Services will be held following calling hours at 1pm. Private Interment St. Patrick's Cemetery. The Family requests the Courtesy of No Flowers.
