Dr. Arthur E. Danese Ph.D., "Uncle" Died peacefully at home in Rochester on April 6, 2017 at the age of 94 with his niece, Frances McCabe, by his side. Predeceased by his parents Bertha and Leonard Danese, 8 siblings, niece Francine (Mark) Kleehammer, and nephew Michael Yanno. He is survived by nephews Richard, Frank & Nick Yanno, niece Marianne (Don) Ambrose, great nephews Aron and Mark, and his many loving colleagues and friends.

Dr. Danese graduated Valedictorian of the Mt. Morris Class of 1939 as a Junior. Before WWII, he attended Syracuse University until he enlisted in the Army. He achieved the rank of 1st Lieutenant as a member in the Army Specialist Training Corps. After the War, he received his B.A. degree magna cum laude from U of R in June 1947, M.A. in Mathematics degree summa cum laude from Harvard University June 1948, and his Ph.D. at U of R June 1956. He received many awards and accolades and one from the Ford Foundation for a lecture tour in England, France, Germany, Italy, and Russia. He has written several books in mathematics and was a regular contributor of scholarly and technical journals. He enjoyed many sabbaticals abroad and traveled the world extensively. He taught at prestigious universities in NY and was Prof. Emeritus of Mathematics at SUNY Fredonia. He served as a mathematical consultant with Atomic Energy Commission, NASA, and Kodak. He will be deeply missed by family, friends, former students, and colleagues. Uncle so enjoyed music, plays, the Arts, esp. the Metropolitan Opera in NYC. In his memory, please attend a concert or show.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Olson Scholarship Foundation in Arthur's name at SUNY Fredonia or Honor Flight Rochester, both of which he greatly supported.
