Carl Samuel Sceusa age 82 of Warsaw died on Friday June 26, 2026 at his home surrounded by his family.  Carl was born on September 14, 1943, to Samuel Sceusa and Lucille (Bailey) Rafferty. He was raised by Grace (LePome) and Samuel Sceusa. He is a deeply loved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend whose life was marked by devotion to family, quiet kindness, and enduring love.

He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 59 years, Barbara Jamieson Sceusa; his children, Guy (Carolyn) Sceusa, Victoria (Brian) Ossont, and Heather (Mark) Bellinger; his brothers, Ross (Mary) Sceusa and James (Josephine) Rafferty; his brothers-in-law, Norbert O'Meara, Robert (Marlene) Jamieson, and Frank (Linda) Jamieson; and his sisters-in-law, Frances Thornton, Judy (Robert) DiCicco, Patricia (Bud King) Jamieson. He also leaves behind eight beloved grandchildren—Jessica, Cara, KB, Athena, Emma, McKinley, Ty, and Kaylee—and four treasured great-grandchildren, Aine, Garrison, Theodore, and Estelle, as well as many nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved dearly and was proud to call family.

We take comfort in knowing that he will be reunited with his beloved sister, Patricia; his brothers, Clair, David, and Daniel Rafferty; and his dear aunts, Mary Sceusa and Angelina (Sceusa) Cosgriff, as well as his uncle, Frank Sceusa, whose love meant so much to him throughout his life.

He took great pleasure in telling stories about his days working on the farm with his cousin, Michael LaPoma. He cherished time with his extended family, including caring for his nieces and nephews when they were young. He enjoyed tinkering and, in his younger years, found great fun in racing cars. In retirement, he continued to find joy in farming, caring for his animals—including Alfie the goat—working on equipment at Frank LaPoma's farm, and attending auctions.  He had a special relationship with all of his children's animals and was the first to "babysit" them.

He found special joy in the simple pleasures of life: fishing for his daughter (because she always fell in), Heather; attending car races with his son, Guy; and visiting the flea market with his daughter, Vicki. He especially treasured the drives he shared with his wife and the steady, tender way they cared for one another through the years. He especially wanted to thank his wife for the love and care she gave him, knowing how difficult the last few years have been. The love they shared was a beautiful and abiding gift.

He also loved gardening, always looking forward to the arrival of rhubarb in the spring and to asking for strawberry-rhubarb pie. Among his happiest moments were the quiet, one-on-one times he shared with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren—taking them to school or work, and cheering them on at sporting events, concerts, and school plays.

He will be remembered always for his warm smile, his laughter, his generous heart, and the way he made those around him feel safe, loved, and at home. His kindness touched many lives, and his gentle affection for animals reflected the tenderness he carried with him each day. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered with love by all who were blessed to know him.
