Dana F. "Dave Fox" Fanaro age 75 and formerly of Mt. Morris, NY is now with his Lord Jesus.  He died Friday July 1, 2022 at his residence in Palmyra, NY. He was born the son of the late Clair and Margaret (Cox) Fox on January 25, 1947 in Dansville, NY. Dave was married on October 14, 2014 to Marilyn (Reynolds) Fanaro whom he is survived by. Dave was a member of the Old Paths Chapel in Perry and the Vietnam Veterans Association Chapter 20.  He loved greeting people at Old Paths Chapel, attending school activities and sporting events where he rooted for his grandchildren. Most of all, he loved being called Grandpa by all of his grandchildren.

He was a US Marine Corp Veteran having served Active duty from 1965 – 1969 and then re-upped his enlistment for a total of 14 years achieving the rank of Sergeant, during the Vietnam War.  He served 2 years in Vietnam as a Radio Operator for re-supply and general communications, and gave co-ordinates for air strikes, and called for Medivacs to pick up injured soldiers.  He was a warrant Officer in charge of training soldiers in Nuclear, Biological and Chemical Warfare.  He wrote training programs and operational manuals for equipment and their proper usage.  He was the recipient of many medals and commendations, including the National Defense Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Presidential Unit Citation, Combat Action, Purple Heart Medal and The Bronze Star Medal with combat V.  One of the greatest moments in his life was being presented the Quilt of Honor on Memorial Day in 2019 at Genesee Race track in front of thousands of people, as a representative of thousands of Servicemen in this country and him being a United States Marine Corp Veteran. He served his country with honor and distinction.

Besides his Parents Clair "Foxy" Fox and Margaret "Rita" (Cox) Fox he was also predeceased by a sister; Mary (Fox) Lewandowski.

He is survived by his wife and best friend Marilyn at home, a brother; Steven (Amy) Fox and daughter; Julia Hainsworth, 6 sons; David, Paul, Steven, Anthony, John and Peter Fanaro, 2 brother's; Steven and Timothy, 4 sister's; Barbara, Susan, Laurie and Christia. Many grandchildren including Jessica, Grace, Faith and Kyle Hainsworth, as well as many other grandchildren, great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews,

Friends may call Tuesday 3-6 pm at the JOHN W. MARTIN FUNERAL HOME, 37 Chapel Street, (Route 408), Mount Morris where his memorial service will follow calling hours at 6:00 pm with the Rev Jeff Geusno officiating.  Interment will be at the convenience of the family at Bath National Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Livingston County Dog Control 3386 Gypsy Lane, Mt.
