DELLA MAE SMITH age 98 of 3170 Swanson Road, Mt. Morris, New York, died Saturday March 5, 2016 at the Livingston County Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Mt. Morris, NY. She was born the daughter of Albertus and Delphine (Erskin) Edwards on October 28, 1917 in Pike, NY. She married Lee Smith in 1939. Prior to her retirement in 1978 she was employed as a Registered Nurse at Craig Developmental Center in Sonyea for nearly 40 years. She was a member of St. Patrick's Church in Mt. Morris, CSEA (Past Vice President), Hally-Allen Post 1341 Auxiliary in Sonyea (Past President), 55 year volunteer at the Canandaigua VA, 8 & 40 Association (Unit President) and Literacy Volunteers of America at Mount Morris Central School and the Grandparent mentor program at Mount Morris Central School.

She is survived by her 3 daughters Carole (Richard) Liberte of Texas, Nancy (Kenneth) Wray of Lakewood and Mary (Jim) Liberti of Perry. 7 Grandchildren 17 Great grandchildren and 4 Great-Great Grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 30 years Lee in 1969, 5 brothers and 1 sister.

Friends may call Thursday from 4-7 pm at the JOHN W. MARTIN FUNERAL HOME, 37 Chapel Street, (Route 408), Mount Morris where prayers will be said Friday at 9 am follow by a Funeral mass at St. Patrick's Church at 9:30. Reverend Bernard Dan officiating.
