DIONY HUIA SUTHERLAND YOUNG age 85 of Geneseo, New York, died peacefully late on Tuesday October 10, 2023 at her home.  She was born the daughter of Professor Ivan and Nancy (Webber) Sutherland on May 25, 1938 in Christchurch, New Zealand. She graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Anthropology from the University of Auckland. She married Richard Young on December 29, 1964. Prior to her retirement she was the editor for the international journal, "BIRTH," for Blackwell Scientific in Boston, Massachusetts.

She is survived by her husband of nearly 59 years Richard, 2 children Christopher (wife Erin) Young of Brighton and Erinna Chen of Henrietta, 4 grandchildren Oscar Young, Theo Young, Vega Chen and Silas Chen, sister Julia Bennett and 2 brothers Oliver (wife Ulla) Sutherland and Wallace (wife Mamai) Sutherland, all of New Zealand, as well as many nieces, nephews and dear and loving friends. She was predeceased by her parents Ivan and Nancy Sutherland and her twin sister, Dr. Janis Oliver.
