Frederick James Ludwig age 81 of 9946 Oakland Street in Dalton died early Thursday morning November 17,2011 at his home. He was born July 10,1930 in Swain, NY the son of the late Eldred V. and Marie (Olin) Ludwig. He was a graduate of Canaseraga School and was a US Air Force Veteran serving from 1950 to 1971, retiring as a Technical Sergeant after twenty years of service. After that he was employed at Morton Salt in Sliver Springs, NY for several years. Frederick was a member of the Fawcett American Legion Post # 1582 in Canaseraga, and was known to his family as an ordinary man, with extra ordinary character.

Frederick was predeceased by two sister's; Lois Salada and Ester Dieter and a brother; Neil Ludwig. He is survived by his children; Donna (Paul) Grekalski of Frewsburg, NY, Dale (Anne) Ludwig of Pittsford and Todd (Virginia) Ludwig of Caledonia. 10 Grandchildren; Paul II, Joseph and Amber Grekalski, Tara (Andy) Donato, Amanda, Amy, Emily, Stephen, Kimberly, and Alicia Ludwig. 2 Great Grandchildren Drew and Landon Donato, two sister's; Helen Slusser and Kathryn Sleggs, his former wife and mother of his 3 children, Phyllis Bogardus who he was married to from 1954 until 1980.

Friends may call Tuesday from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the JOHN W. MARTIN FUNERAL HOME 37 Chapel Street (Route 408) Mt. Morris, where funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM (Following Calling hours) with the Pastor Ron Brown officiating. Burial with full Military Honors will be in Canaseraga Cemetery.
