GERALD F. CARNEY age 80 of Groveland, New York, died peacefully on Sunday November 24, 2019 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY. He was born the son of Charles and Edna (Schmidt) Carney on May 10, 1939 in Sonyea, New York. He graduated from Craig Colony School of Nursing. Prior to his retirement in 1994 he was employed for nearly 40 years as a Registered Nurse at Rochester Psychiatric Hospital. He was a member of St. Patrick's Church, CSEA and the New York Retired Professional Employees Association.

He is survived by his son Steven (Barbara Poulsen) Carney of Delevan. 2 Brothers Charles (Nancy) Carney of Connecticut and John (Lucinda) Carney of Niagara Falls. Sister Mary (James) Doyle Jr. of North Carolina. Many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Charles and Edna.

Friends may call Tuesday from 4-7 pm at the JOHN W. MARTIN FUNERAL HOME, 37 Chapel Street, (Route 408), Mount Morris where prayers will be said Wednesday at 9:30 am followed by a funeral mass at St. Patrick's at 10 am. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery Dansville. A funeral reception to follow at the Groveland Fire Department, Route 63, Groveland, NY.  In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to the Groveland Fire Department or St. Patrick's Church.
