Gloria Adeline Urbano Coté of Mount Morris, NY and formerly of Saint Albans, VT went home to her Heavenly Father and gained her angel wings on March 16, 2024.

Gloria was and will always be a devoted mother, loving wife, friend, aunt and the most glorious grandmother and great grandmother.  She was born on May 26, 1930 to the late Faustino and Daisy (Heath) Urbano in Queens, NY. Gloria was raised in Jamaica, NY with her brothers, Theodore Urbano , Herbert Urbano and sister Rosita Triarchis.

She is predeceased by her husband, Theodore, brothers, Theodore and Herbert and sister Yolanda, and two sons Dennis and Joshua.

Gloria's sister, Yolanda, passed away very suddenly in March 1930 at the age of two, only months before Gloria's entry into the world.  Despite the fact that she did not grow up with Yolanda, she would often recount stories to her children and grandchildren about the memories of Yolanda. Her young death was a driving force for Gloria wanting to go into the healthcare industry and serve others. As a child, Gloria was described as independent, loving and sensitive. This strong sense of independence and courage led her and her younger brother Herb to attend high school in Portland, Maine. Gloria and Herb spent their high school years in Portland, Maine where she eventually graduated from high school in 1948. Shortly after high school, Gloria met her husband Theodore  Coté . Shortly after high school, she met Theodore following an introduction through her brother.  During this time, Gloria was working as an X-Ray technician. She was always very proud of her career and serving others.

Gloria and Theodore married on September 15, 1950. Together they raised six beautiful children: Dennis, Carrie, Joshua, Juliet and Thomas and Ralph. Gloria loved being a mother and was always ensuring that her children were well-fed. She enjoyed baking and cooking for her family. One of her favorite recipes to bake were her famous French pancakes that she learned through the roots of her husband's French-Canadian background. Another specialty of Gloria's was to make her famous homemade pies and donuts. She was always known for making at least 15 different types of pies during the holidays. One Thanksgiving, she made thirty-four pies. It gave her so much joy to cook and show her love through food.  She also had the Coté gene and loved sweets. She would never turn down any creemee, soft serve ice-cream or anything chocolate.

In addition to her family life, Gloria was a successful business entrepreneur, operating an independent yarn store for over twenty years in St. Albans, VT. Gloria loved making beautiful sweaters and other clothing pieces out of the intricate different types of yarn. She had an artistic eye and especially enjoyed painting which had been a family tradition that she inherited from her father and paternal grandfather.  She was an avid reader and a night owl and forever maintained the "Eternal Glo of Youth'' in the beauty of her face, smile and laughter. Gloria had an eye for beauty and fine collections. She considered herself a collector of all beautiful things. Among her other talents, she was also amazing at DIY projects from wall papering to restoring old houses.  Any space that Gloria occupied she had the magical ability to turn any space and make it beautiful and she did so effortlessly.

Through the early years, the family lived in Maine, New Hampshire, and the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont. They finally settled and made roots in St. Albans, VT for over fifty years.

After losing her husband Ted in 2005, Gloria took the opportunity to travel and visit her siblings Rosita and her daughters Terry-Jane and Linda. In addition to her devotion to her family, Gloria was also a lover of all animals. In her final years, she had two companions, Quigley and Oliver. She doted on her dogs and gave them the best lives. Even in her final years after both of her dogs had passed, Gloria would take any opportunity to give cuddles and hugs to any dog in her sight.  Gloria also had the opportunity to reconnect with one of her close high school friends, William Donovan and they enjoyed countless hours of phone calls and nostalgic memories shared together.

One of the many gifts she passed on to her children was her great love of God, her faith, and her devotion to the Blessed Mother and Saints. At the same time, she loved to tell ghost stories and they will forever be remembered by her children and grandchildren.

Gloria is survived by her children: Carrie Dumont of Redondo Beach, CA; Juliet O'Neil of Morrisville, VT; Thomas Coté and Barbara Hanna who provided and cared for her in her final 4.5 years of life of Mount Morris, NY; Ralph Cote and his partner Chris Best of Barre, VT.  She is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Kathryn ( spouse of the late Dennis Coté). Gloria's grandchildren include: Marley Downing( Jeff Boehner), David Dumont (Amanda Dumont), Jonah Dumont (Anh Vo), Claire Coté-Kettel (Rasmus Kettel), Simone Coté, Jesse Coté (Karla Elizalde), Alanna O'Neil,  Olivia O'Neil (Austin Surowiec), Liam O'Neil (Emma Folchman-Wagner),  Corinne Coté, Danielle Briaddy (Shayne Briaddy), Rebecca Remington (Ben Remington), Dalton Coté (Sierra Coté) and Gabriel Coté.

In addition to her grandchildren, she is survived by eight great grandchildren.

Services will be held on Saturday, March 23rd, 2024.  A Catholic Mass will be at  10 AM at St. Patrick's Church, 46 Stanley Street, Mount Morris, NY. Friends and family may call on Friday, March 22nd from 4 PM to 7 PM at the John W. Martin Funeral Home, 37 Chapel Street(Route 408). Mount Morris, NY.

A Mass and burial services will also occur on June 8, 2024 in Morrisville, VT.

Gloria's patron Saint, Sister Faustina, wrote: "Love endures everything, Love is stronger than death. Love Fears Nothing." Gloria will always be remembered as one of the most loving humans that has graced this earth.
