Our mother, Helen Macauley, age 89 of Groveland, died peacefully on Sunday, July 2nd, 2023 at Noyes Hospital in Dansville, NY.  She was born the daughter of Robert and Gertrude Wachholder on September 5th, 1933 in Hempstead, N.Y.  Helen moved to Groveland with her family in 1950 and married James A. Macauley Sr. on February 16th, 1952.

She loved her family.  She is survived by her daughter, Frances Macauley and son, James (Anna) Macauley Jr.  Her eight grandchildren, Jennifer (Chad) Pfeiffer, Jason Koch, John (Sarah) Macauley, David Macauley, Matt (Ashley) Macauley, Mary (Mark) Layman, Jeff (Jackie) Macauley and Michael Macauley along with fourteen great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, James Macauley Sr., her parents, brother, special Aunt Frances Turner, sister-in-law Agnes Moore and brother-in-law Clair Macauley.

Our mother loved to sew, quilt, craft and knit.  She was also an excellent cook and baker, cookies being her specialty.  She loved playing cards especially with her daughter Fran, and friends Cindy and Sheila.  She was also a dedicated volunteer at the Teresa House and Noyes Hospital and was a parishioner of the Groveland Federated Parish.

As per our mother's wishes, there will be no calling hours.  There will be a private graveside service for the family with Pastor Dorothy Hotchkiss presiding.  If you wish to honor our mother, please make a donation to the Teresa House, 21 Highland Road, Geneseo, NY.  Arrangements by John W.
