JAMES LEE TOWNSEND age 79 of 569 Collins Street, Avon, New York, died suddenly Thursday December 28, 2017 at Strong Memorial Hospital. He was born the son of James B. and Lucille (Robinson) Townsend on January 25, 1938 in Odessa, Texas. He was a Veteran of the Air Force from 1958-1962. He married Gertrude "Trudy" Valentino on February 18, 1967. Prior to his retirement in 1993 he was employed as a Software Engineering Manager for Digital Equipment Corporation in Nashua, New Hampshire for over 20 years. He was a member of the Avon American Legion Post 294.


He is survived by his loving wife of over 50 years Gertrude "Trudy". 2 Sons Timothy James (Sandra) Townsend of Washington and Gregory (Tracy) Townsend of New Hampshire. 3 Grandchildren Charles and Katherine Townsend both of Washington and Samuel Townsend of New Hampshire. Nieces, nephews and many dear loving friends. He was predeceased by his sister Dama Morris in 2002.
