John Sipperley, 89, died Friday, February 27, 2026 at Highland Hospital with his two daughters by his side.  John was born April 3, 1936 in Warsaw, New York to E. Louise Slaight Sipperley and Leonard G. Sipperley and went home to his beloved Tusky house and Farm.

Growing up, he found great joy on the farm, tending the fields, raising and showing sheep along side his Dad.  He took pride in showing his prize animals at the State Fair and often told stories from his experiences in 4 H!

John graduated from Nunda High school in 1954 and after a brief time at the university of Colorado returned to the farm in the land he loved. John went on to own and operate John L Sipperley Insurance agency in Mount Morris from approximately 1967 through 1986 and he enjoyed being a part of the Mount Morris business community!

John lived a life marked by hard work, lots of fun in the sun on beaches around the world, and of course hardships. John took solace in music. He found comfort and true fulfillment at the piano. Jazz melodies filled his heart and he was known to sit at the piano for hours at a time. Jazz, with its improvisation and complexities suited him well. The fertile land of the Genesee Valley that he farmed and lived on, was also a source of joy, pride and comfort.

In remembering John, we hold space for the hard days and more so for the good ones.  The music he filled his heart with, the insurance business he operated, the fields he worked and the sheep he proudly showed.  Also, how he showed his Daughters he loved them. His life reminds us that people are rarely simple, but always human.

John was predeceased by his Mother, E. Louise Slaight Sipperley, his father Leonard G. Sipperley, his ex wife Mickey Sipperley, and his brother-in-law, Herbert Brewer.

John is survived by his sister Mary Lou Brewer, his two daughters Julie (Joe) Gibbons, Jodi (Karl) Kania, and four grandchildren. Grace Gibbons, Jed Gibbons, Teddy Kania, Safia Kania and many Nieces and Nephews.

A special acknowledgment to UR Home Hospice, and in particular his chaplain Andrew Schep and his  music therapist Kim Best for bringing the BEST medicine to our Dad at the end of his life.  Last but certainly not least, thank you to his two Home Aides Linda Karr and Lynne Goodman.  They heard all the stories and laughed with him through the last months.  That's all we could have hoped for.

No prior calling hours. Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, April 4 at 12 pm at the First Presbyterian Church of Tuscarora, 8082 Main Street, Tuscarora. Lay Pastor Carme Vianese officiating.
