Kenneth W. Lawson (Ken), 92, Formerly of Baldwin, New York, passed away surrounded by family on Friday, June 29 in Mount Morris, NY.

Ken was preceded in death by his wife, Inez (Lovelass) Lawson and his brother, Melvin Lawson. He was both the proud father of Bruce (Kim) Lawson of Milanville, PA and Joyce (Michael) Randall of Mount Morris, NY; and grandfather of Kristen (Timothy) Houtz of Hunt, NY, and Emma and Brandon Lawson of Milanville, PA.

He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Vera Lovelass, formerly of Freeport, NY, now residing in Mount Morris NY, brother-in-law, Lester Lovelass of Vestal, NY, and sister-in-law, Betty Lawson of New Bern, NC. Several nieces, nephews and many dear and loving friends.

Ken was born in Brooklyn, NY on September 7, 1925. He graduated from Freeport High School

in 1943.  He served in World War II from December 1943-April 1, 1946 in the 898th Field Artillery Battalion 75th Infantry Division.

After the war, he earned his teaching degree from Hofstra University. He then taught math and science at Hempstead High School and proceeded to develop his passion for teaching physics at Lynbrook High School until his retirement in 1985.

Ken filled his 33 years of retirement with the joys of family, friends, canoeing, bicycle riding, and involvement with his community. He enjoyed helping others, singing in the choir, and he dedicated many hours of volunteering at the South Nassau Unitarian Thrift Store and Interfaith Nutrition Network (Soup Kitchen) while building friendships along the way.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 18 ^th at 2pm  at the South Nassau Unitarian Universalist Congregation at 228 South Ocean Ave. Freeport, NY 11520.
