LETTIE JANE (WARD) POWELL went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at the age of 92 at the United Memorial Medical Center in the City of Batavia, Town of Batavia, Genesee County, New York, on Thursday, July 25, 2013. She was born the daughter of Simon Francis Ward and Minnie (Sexton) Ward on Thursday, September 9, 1920, in Little Doubles Holler in the Town of Bath, Knott County, Kentucky. She married Leo Leroy "Pete" Powell on Wednesday, July 1, 1942, in the Warren Memorial Presbyterian Church in the City of Louisville, Jefferson County, Kentucky. She moved to the Hamlet of Tuscarora, Town of Mount Morris, Livingston County, New York, with her husband, Leo, in April 1945 where they lived and brought up their children. She loved being a housewife and a stay at home mother. In June 1973 they moved to the Town of Nunda, Livingston County, New York. They were members of the First Baptist Church in the Town of Pavilion, Genesee County, New York, and later of the Oakland Wesleyan Church in the Town of Nunda, Livingston County, New York.

She was predeceased by her loving husband of 42 years, Leo, in 1985, brother, Leslie Ward, in 1944, brother, Lester Ward, in 1978, and sister, Lizzie Ward Figluizzi, in 2003. She is survived by her son, Ronald Royce (Cathy) Powell of Nunda, New York, daughter, Thelma Jean (Gordon) Radley of Pavilion, New York, daughter, Linda Susan (Robert) Craft of Farmington, New York, daughter, Brenda Dawn (Rick) Baker of West Seneca, New York, her sister, Lona Ward Gibson Stembler, of Bradenton, Florida, half-brother, Hasko Lee Ward, of Indianapolis, Indiana, her aunt Verna Ward Holliday, of Mallie, Kentucky, many nieces, nephews, cousins and loving friends. She was blessed with 4 children, 14 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and 14 great great grandchildren.

Calling hours will be on Monday from 5 - 8 pm at the John W. Martin Funeral Home at 37 Chapel Street (Route 408) in the Village of Mount Morris, Town of Mount Morris, Livingston County, New York. Funeral services will be held at Tuesday at 2 pm at the Oakland Wesleyan Church in the Town of Nunda, Livingston County, New York, with Pastor Paul Palmer officiating. Burial will be in Section K in Oakwood Cemetery in the Village of Nunda, Town of Nunda, Livingston County, New York. Memorial contributions may be made to the Oakland Wesleyan Church in Nunda.
