LYLE F. ORTON age 92 of Nunda, New York, died Saturday January 6, 2024 at UR/Noyes Medical Center in Dansville, New York.   He was born the son of Harry and Mable (Holly) Orton on May 22, 1931 in Rochester, New York.  He served in the Army from 1950 to 1952 during the Korean War.  He married Joan Love on January 31, 1964.  Through the years Lyle was employed at several places, as a truck driver and heavy equipment operator- including the St. Lawrence Seaway, DeWitt's Construction, the Erie Railroad, and for over 30 years he was an equipment operator and truck driver for the AKZO Nobel Salt Company in Retsof having retired in 1992, just before the mine's collapse.  He was a member of the Nunda VFW Post #8961 and a member of the Dalton American Legion Post #1562.

He is survived by 3 daughters Catherine Maggio of Livonia, Carol (Peter) Ames of Dansville and Susan Didas of Nunda. 7 Grandchildren Len (Cheryl) LeClair of Redfield, Jason (Tracy) LeClair of Livonia, Sara (Robert) Fausette of Tampa, FL, Jenelle Bennett, Cory (Brittney) Bennett and Curtis Bennett all of Dansville, and Amber (Nick) Speziale of Ashburn, Virginia.  10 Great Grandchildren Elsie, Landen, Jude, Vera and Trevor all of Dansville and Brooks, Charlie, Wilder, Jolene, and Layla all of Florida.  Sisters-in-law Nancy Mann of Nunda and Janice Orton of Dalton. Many nieces, nephews and cousins.  He was predeceased by his loving wife Joan Love Orton on February 25, 2013, his parents Harry R. and Mable (Holly) Orton, his maternal grandparents and his paternal grandparents.  Also, 3 brothers Robert (Holly) Zane, Richard Orton and Vernon Orton and 3 sisters MaryJane (Holly Zane) Smith, Gretchen Stonebrook and Barbara "Tootie" Orton.
