It is with sorrow, the family of Patricia A. Coon, nee` Sullivan, announces her death at her home in Nunda, N.Y. on Friday May 3, 2024. Mrs. Coon was born to John T. and Agnes Sullivan in Birdsall, NY. She was Valedictorian of her graduating class at Canasaraga Central School. She married Denman E. Coon Sr. They moved to the family homestead on Gibbs St, where they raised their children.  Mr. and Mrs. Coon established Coon's Furniture and Carpet Sales in the early 1960's, running the business until the 1990's. She enjoyed her role in their successful enterprise. A devout Catholic, she was a member of Holy Angels Church in Nunda for 77 years, participating in many aspects of parish life. She liked morning walks about the village for which she and her spouse were well known.

More than anything, Mrs. Coon enjoyed being the matriarch, the mother and grandmother. Her love of children was demonstrated in many things she did, from creating elaborate birthday cakes to attending a plethora of games, recitals, plays and graduations for her beloved family.  She was their champion over 3 generations and took great pride in their many accomplishments.

Her life was one of service from packing boxes for Operation Morale for Viet Nam to privately helping local families in need.

Her hands were rarely idle but found joy in caring for others or her roses and flower gardens. She made dozens of quilts for her family which are prized.

She was predeceased by her parents, a sister Josephine Sullivan Duryea, 2 brothers, Robert Sullivan, Sr. and Gerald Sullivan. The love of her life,  Denman E Coon, Sr. , 2 sons , Denman "Bruce" Coon, Joseph J. Coon, a daughter , Patricia Coon-Donovan and 2 grandsons, Matthew Coon and Gage Coon.

She is survived by 3 sons David (Jeanne) Coon of Nunda, Donald Coon of AZ, and Gerald (Judith) Coon of Cambridge. One daughter Deborah Coon-Howard of Nunda, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, a sister in law, nieces, nephews, cousins and dear neighbors

The family will receive friends and family on Wednesday May 8th at Holy Angels Church, N Church St., Nunda, NY, from 10- 11:30 am prior to a Mass of the Christian Burial at 11:30 am to celebrate a life well lived.  Reverend Daniel Condon officiating.  Burial to follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Nunda, NY. In lieu of flowers, contributions would be welcomed in Mrs. Coon's memory to Golisano Children's Hospital, Neurology Dept., 150 Crittenden Blvd Rochester, NY 14642 or the Ladies in Pink Inc., (providing assistance to local families experiencing cancer) c/o Cathy Jo Sullivan, 9605 Nunda Dalton Rd.
