Richard "Dick" Gary Childs of Sparta, NY passed away early Monday, May 29, 2023 at home with his wife and family by his side.  He was born in Rochester, NY to Douglas and Ola (Nash) Childs on March 27, 1947.  He was predeceased by both his parents.

He is survived by his wife Helen (Wyatt) Childs.  They were married on May 7, 1966.  They celebrated 57 years of marriage together.  He is survived by his brothers, Greg Childs and Doug (Joanne) Childs.  They had 2 children, Linda (Karen Burr) Childs Mehlenbacher and Douglas (Michaela James) Childs.  He has 4 grandchildren, Matthew (Victoria) Mehlenbacher, Krista Childs, Tylor Childs and Tarah Childs.  He has 4 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He worked 42 years at Castle (Getinge) in Henrietta as a Assembler Specialist until retiring in 2009.  He loved fishing, hunting and their camp at the 1000 Islands.  He enjoyed woodworking, building bird houses and other wood projects in his spare time.  He reminisced often of how he and Helen would go digging up many different, old dump sites and finding all sorts of bottles and treasures.  He had many hobbies over the years.   He was an avid Buffalo Bills and Sabers fan.
