RITA CASTEEL age 61 of Mount Morris, New York, died peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Saturday October 7, 2023 at UR/Noyes Hospital in Dansville, NY.   She was born the daughter of Ferdinando and Francesca (Foti) Papalia on November 1, 1961 in Calabria, Italy.  She married Steve Casteel on September 7, 1991.  She had worked as a Nurse at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester and most recenlty for C & F Transportation in Mount Morris.  She had also worked at Five Star Bank in Mount Morris.  She loved making arts and crafts and spending time with her family especially her son, grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She is survived by her beloved husband of over 32 years Steve.  Her son Daniel Lauth of Dansville.  2 Grandchildren Brennen and Zoey Lauth both of Dansville.  Her mother Francesca Papalia of Kent.  5 sisters Cathy (John) Hilbert of Hilton, Nancy (Ross) Merrick of Florida, Maria (Patrick) DiSano of Gates, Rose McAvoy of Greece, and Silvia (Ken) Kuehne of Kent.  2 sisters-in-law Judy Papalia of Georgia and Susan Papalia of Kent.  Aunt Maddalena Foti of Kent.  Many nieces, nephews and dear and loving friends.  She was predeceased by her father Ferdinando Papalia, 2 brothers Domenico and Antonio Papalia, brother-in-law Mike McAvoy and nephew Patrick T. DiSano II

Friends may call Friday October 13 from 4 to 7 pm at the JOHN W. MARTIN FUNERAL HOME, 37 Chapel Street, (Route 408), Mount Morris.  Private family Interment at St. Patrick's Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to James P.
