Ronald C. Lombardo of Mount Morris passed away Friday, Nov. 4, 2016 at age 89.

He was born July 16, 1927, in Mount Morris and was a lifelong resident of the village until his move in February to Morgan Estates in Geneseo.

He is survived by his four children, Jim (Barbara) of Saratoga Springs, Mary Jane Lombardo, Rhonda Ebert (Jeff), and Ronald Jr. (Darlene); eight grandchildren, Michael, David, Steven Tommy, Nick, Joe, Jess and Dominic; sister-in-law Josie Lombardo; and many nieces and nephews.

His wife, Florence, passed away in 1991. He was also predeceased by his parents, Nicholas and Jennie Lombardo, and was the youngest of their nine children. His siblings were Mary Bianchi, Pat Christiano, Sam Lombardo, Angie DeVico, Dominic Lombardo, Madelyn Fischer, Nicholas Lombardo and Jane Lombardo.

Ron served in the Navy in both World War II and the Korean War. Over the years, he was an active member of the American Legion and the VFW. He was honored to participate in the Honor Flight for veterans in Washington, D.C.

Ron was proud of putting all four children through college. He worked for the Craig Developmental Center, running the community store. He was also an entrepreneur, owning and managing property as well as a liquor store.

He was a volunteer in numerous community and civic organizations, often as treasurer. In his younger years, he was a baseball umpire.

He was an avid follower of politics and sports, and enjoyed playing golf in his retirement.

Calling hours Sunday November 6 from 3-6 pm at the John W. Martin Funeral Home, 37 Chapel Street (Route 408), Mount Morris.  Funeral Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 at St. Patrick's Church. Interment with military honors at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Mount Morris.
