STEVEN L. "Steve" MONTEMARANO SR. age 67 of Mount Morris, died suddenly Sunday December 19, 2021 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY.  He was born the son of Vito and Shirley (Faatz) Montemarano on December 29, 1953 in Dansville, NY.  He graduated from York Central School in 1973.  He married Roe Leone on July 14, 1973.  He was a Production Supervisor at American Rock Salt in Mount Morris and for Akzo for over 40 years.  He worked for the Mount Morris DPW for 2 years until the new mine was open.  He was a member of the Mount Morris Fire Department for over 46 years having served as its Chief from 1997-98 and 2003- 2004.  He was also a member of the Livingston County Chiefs Association, Livingston County Volunteer Firemen's Association and St. Patrick's Church.  He loved spending time with his family and grandchildren.

He is survived by his loving wife of over nearly 50 years Roe, 2 children Steven L (Cassie) Montemarano Jr. of Lima and Amanda (Jeff) Coniglio of Mount Morris.  2 grandchildren Katie Montemarano of Lima and Brooklyn Coniglio of Mount Morris.  2 brothers-in-law Jay (Barb) Leone and Butch (Cheryl) Leone both of Mount Morris.  Step sister Denise Flaubert of California.  Many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear and loving friends.  He was predeceased by his parents Vito and Shirley Montemarano, step mother Janine Montemarano, mother and father-in-law Rose and Dominic Leone and brother-in-law Charles Leone.

Friends may call Monday December 27, 2021 from 4 to 7 pm at the JOHN W. MARTIN FUNERAL HOME, 37 Chapel Street, (Route 408), Mount Morris where prayers will be said Tuesday December 28 at 9 am followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Patrick's Church.  Reverend Bernard Dan Officiating.  Interment St. Patrick's Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mt.
