VERNON JAMES DILLON SR. age 93 of Mount Morris, New York, died peacefully on Saturday May 13, 2023 at UR/ Noyes Hospital in Dansville, New York. He was born the son of Walter and Jessie (Preston) Dillon on May 21, 1929 in York, New York. He married the former Doris Wangenfeld on August 26, 1996. He worked until recently as a heavy equipment operator in 1966 for the Local 832 Operators Union in Rochester. He also worked for both the Town of Dansville and Mount Morris Highway department. He currently owned and operated Dillon Beef Farm in Mount Morris since 1972. He was a member of the Local #832 Operators Union in Rochester. He loved working on projects that would benefit his home and farm.
He is survived by 5 children. Clara (Gerald) Scaccia of Leicester, Karen (Daniel) Fleming of Colorado, Vernon (Weihong) Dillon Jr. of Mount Morris, Amy (Eugino) Colón of Caledonia and Betty Zingaro of Mount Morris. 15 Grandchildren, 17 Great Grandchildren and 2 Great-Great Grandchildren. Sister Kathleen D'Angelo of Livonia. Many nieces, nephews and dear and loving friends. He was predeceased by his wife Doris in 1996, daughter Nancy Darch in 1985, son-in-law Patsy Zingaro in 2022, 3 Brothers William Dillon, Melvin Dillon and George Dillon and Sister Katherine McDonald.
Friends may call Monday May 22 from 11 to 1 pm at the JOHN W. MARTIN FUNERAL HOME, 37 Chapel Street, (Route 408), Mount Morris where funeral services will be held at 1 pm. Interment at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Fowlerville, NY. Memorials may be made to to your favorite charity. Sign the online registry at
