WILLIAM C. "Bill" DENBY JR. age 88 of Sonyea, NY, died peacefully on Friday August 13, 2021 at his home.  He was born the son of William and Dorothy (Clute) Denby on June 2, 1933 in Warsaw, New York.  He served in the Army from 1955 to 1958 and was in the Army Reserve until 1978.  He married Diana Hagan on October 5, 1974.  Prior to his retirement in 1991 he was employed as an attendant at Craig Development Center in Sonyea, NY for over 25 years.  He was a member of the Hally-Allen American Legion Post 1341 in Sonyea and CSEA.  He was a former member of the Oakland Methodist Church where he was involved in the Youth ministries.  He loved to play in Pool leagues and go bowling.

He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 47 years Diana.  His children Michael (Mary) Denby of North Carolina, Kelly (Laurie) Denby of Nunda, Victoria (Don Jr.) Fox of Caledonia William Christopher Denby of Florida, James (JoMarie) Kimbel of Mt. Morris and Jodi Kimbel of Nunda.  Many grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Many nieces, nephews and dear and loving friends.  He was predeceased by his son Scott Kimbel in 2014.

Friends may call Tuesday from 3 to 6 pm at the JOHN W. MARTIN FUNERAL HOME, 37 Chapel Street, (Route 408), Mount Morris.  Graveside services with full military Honors will be held Wednesday at 11 am at Oakland Cemetery, Portage, NY.  Reverend Carmen Vianese officiating.  A reception will be held following Graveside services at the Hally-Allen American Legion Post, Route 36 in Sonyea.   Memorials may be made to Memory Care Unit, 919 Westfall Road, Suite 210, Rochester, NY 14618.  Sign the online registry at
